DOC LM-P1 · EFFECTIVE 21 AUG 2026
what we know about you, and what we refuse to know
Introduction
the short version: we collect the least we possibly can
Lesson Mugs LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates educationalmugs.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. It applies to everyone who visits the Site, requests a quote, buys a mug, or joins the newsletter.
Lesson Mugs LLC is a Wyoming LLC formed in Wyoming. We operate a workshop at 145 Christie St, Leonia, NJ 07605, US, which is our operational and customer-service address — not our state of formation. We are not a data company. Our default answer to “should we collect this?” is no.
Information you give us directly
quote forms and envelopes, not funnels
Quote request form: your name, email address, organization (optional), approximate quantity, the subjects you’re interested in, and anything you type into the notes field. We use it only to answer your request.
Newsletter: your email address, so we can send one short lesson a week. Unsubscribing works in one click, every time.
Orders: your name, shipping address, email, and order details — what the post office and the tax office need, nothing else. Card numbers are not collected on this Site. When Stripe-hosted Checkout is switched on, cards will be entered only on Stripe’s page.
If you email or call us, we keep that correspondence so we can actually help you.
Information collected automatically
less than you’d think
Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider records standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps — used for security and debugging and rotated out on a short cycle.
That’s the list. We run no analytics platform, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no fingerprinting, and no cross-site tracking. We don’t know your “journey,” and we like it that way.
Cookies
consent first — see the cookie policy
We use Termly as our consent manager. Essential cookies that make the Site and consent choice work may be set. Optional live chat (tawk.to) waits for a Performance and Functionality choice. Typefaces are self-hosted on this Site and do not call Google Fonts. Reopen Cookie Settings any time in the footer. The full story is in our Cookie Policy at /legal/cookies.
How we use your information
each use has a stated legal basis, as GDPR requires
We use the information above for these purposes, and no others:
Who we share it with
a very short list
Service providers who help us operate: Cloudflare (hosts these pages), Migadu (inbound email), Resend (transactional email from quote and newsletter forms), Termly (cookie consent), tawk.to (optional live chat after you allow Performance and Functionality), shipping carriers (deliver your mugs), and a future Stripe-hosted checkout for card payments. Each gets only what it needs to do its job. Typefaces are served from this Site; we do not load Google Fonts.
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, and if the business is ever sold or merged, data would transfer to the new owner under this same policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Not for money, not for favors, not for anything.
How long we keep it
data has a graduation date
We keep personal data only as long as it’s needed:
Records of processing (public summary)
what a regulator would find in the file
This is the public summary of our record of processing. It matches what we actually run on educationalmugs.com. We do not operate an analytics suite or advertising network.
How we protect it
details live on the trust page
HTTPS/TLS encryption everywhere, least-privilege access, data minimization by design, and no payment data on our servers at all. If we suffer a personal-data breach, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours where GDPR requires it, and we will email affected people in plain English. The full rundown — including how to report a vulnerability — is on our Trust & Security page at /legal/trust.
Your rights (EEA & UK — GDPR)
email us; a human answers
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to: access your data, correct it, have it erased (“right to be forgotten”), restrict or object to processing, data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (as easily as you gave it — one email does it).
To exercise any of these, email records@educationalmugs.com. We respond within 30 days — usually within one school day. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.
Your rights (California — CCPA/CPRA)
we don’t sell data, so there’s nothing to opt out of
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing, to limit use of sensitive personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
In the past 12 months we have collected: identifiers (name, email, address — from forms you submit), commercial information (orders and quotes), and internet activity (standard server logs only). We have sold none of it and shared none of it for advertising. Business purpose for each category is in the table below.
Submit a request by email to records@educationalmugs.com or by phone at +1 (551) 348-8301 — two methods, your pick. We respond within 45 days as the law requires.
Children’s privacy
mugs for teachers, not first-graders
The Site is directed at adults — teachers, administrators, and gift-buyers — not at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email records@educationalmugs.com and we will delete it promptly.
International data transfers
the mugs are american; the visitors aren’t always
Operational processing happens at our Leonia, New Jersey workshop (145 Christie St, Leonia, NJ 07605, US). Lesson Mugs LLC is a Wyoming LLC formed in Wyoming; the New Jersey street is not the formation state. If you visit from the EEA/UK, your data crosses the Atlantic — we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and our providers’ adequacy safeguards for those transfers, and you can ask us for the details.
Changes to this policy
no quiet edits
If we change this policy in any way that matters, we’ll say so in plain English before it takes effect — on this page with a new effective date, and by email to newsletter subscribers. We encourage you to check back; the date at the top always tells you which version you’re reading.
